A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD AND THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The Walt Disney Company is the World's Number One Employer Of Sexual Predators. Even their former high-tech executive Patrick Naughton was arrested and charged with interstate travel with the intention of having sex with a minor. So if an Disney executive can't be trusted around your children how much more should you worry about a plain old Disney castmember? I can't stress it enough, when you are visiting or vacationing on any of the Walt Disney Company's properties - PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF YOUR SIGHT --- EVER!!! See the proof below.
|
 |
| Patrick Naughton |
|
Disney: Naughton not our employee
With as much face to lose as anyone, Walt Disney, the family-oriented entertainment company that operates the Web's leading destination for children, formally reacted to the arrest of Patrick Naughton by distancing itself and its properties from the high-tech executive.
September 20, 1999
The FBI arrested Naughton late Thursday on charges in connection with using Internet chat and email to solicit a minor. As executive vice president for products, Naughton oversaw the software development efforts for Infoseek and the GO Network portal site. However, Disney spokeswoman Rebecca Anderson stressed Monday that Naughton asserted no operational control over Disney Online, ESPN, ABCNews.com or ABC.com, despite the fact they are part of the Infoseek-operated GO Network.
"Patrick's responsibilities did not touch on the content," she said. All those sites are managed by executives who work directly for Disney. Anderson also said Disney does not expect the incident to affect the company's announced plans to acquire the 57 percent of Infoseek it does not already own.
Meanwhile, Infoseek officials were remaining mum, except to issue a brief, formal statement. "We are shocked and disturbed by the arrest of Patrick Naughton," it said. "Mr. Naughton is no longer an employee of Infoseek. As this is a pending investigation, there are no further details available at this time. We want to be clear that behavior of this nature is inappropriate and unacceptable by Infoseek and GO Network."
Naughton was arrested on Friday and released after posting a $100,000 appearance bond; he has been formally charged with interstate travel with the intention of having sex with a minor. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison. He faces arraignment 12 October.
Patrick Naughton
Patrick Naughton will not be remembered as one of the original geeks who worked for Sun to develop the Java programming language.
He will not be fondly recalled for his service to Walt Disney with time spent as vice-president of Infoseek.
Instead, people will smirk or frown, depending on the sense of humor possessed, and simply remember Patrick as "Hotseattle".
He was an executive in charge of, you know, stuff and things at a Disney funded Internet startup called Go, Michael Eisner's knee-jerk reaction to Yahoo. After all, Disney had plenty of crap to sell, why shouldn't they have their own portal?
All things under the Go Networks umbrella, still sort of in use today, included Disney properties such as Disney Online, ESPN, ABC News and the now-defunct Infoseek search engine. The idea was to consolidate services and spread around banner ads designed to promote the quarter's latest pantload of crap.
Depending on who you ask, Patrick spent a little or a lot of time trolling for underage girls on various public Internet Relay Chat networks. The various public IRC networks offered him the opportunity to chickenhawk around in chat rooms named #dads&daughterssex and #girls&oldermen. He initiated conversations with girls, boys, probably some number of strange men and eventually, an FBI agent.
Where else but an online chat system can a middle-aged FBI agent pass as a child? Patrick's handle was "Hotseattle" (or "sfmate"). The agent playing the part of a dimwitted teenager chose the nick "krisLA". It took six months for Hotseattle to ask his new friend out on a date. He asked what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, the same one he'd been chatting with for six months, to meet him on the Santa Monica pier for some fun at a local motel. At least he didn't suggest they meet at Disneyland.
Patrick had an interesting mating ritual: Apparently the task of convincing a girl to meet you involves sending her a digital photograph of your wang, as Naughton did on several occasions. He described his flights of fantasy as role-playing as himself, pretending to be a successful, rich executive with everything going his way. When he bragged about running a company and owning a boat in chat sessions, he was telling the truth, unlike so many chatters before him.
On September 16, 1999, he would learn that his teen fantasy girl was in fact an FBI agent working with Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement agents. Naughton was arrested and frog-marched off the pier, charged with a festive collection of crimes: intent to have sex with a minor, use of interstate commerce to induce a minor into sexual activity, and possession of child pornography.
According to the Los Angeles Times, upon being arrested, Patrick blurted out that "there was sexually explicit images of children" on his laptop. In fact, one of the file names was "Baby cunt." A witness from the U.K.'s National Crime Squad identified two of the illegal images as children between the ages of 8 and 9. Naughton claimed his chat software was configured to blindly accept files although his download folder was packed with files.
If Mickey cried a little that night then certainly Michael Eisner had a bad day after learning that his young Vice-President in charge of E-mail and Chat Rooms had been arrested for, well, very un-Disneylike behavior.
Within a day, Patrick was fired and his biography removed from the company website. Go released this statement: "We are shocked and disturbed" ... "Patrick Naughton is no longer an employee of Infoseek. As this is a pending investigation, there are no further details available at this time. We want to be clear that behavior of this nature is inappropriate and unacceptable by Infoseek and GO Network."
Thank goodness these brave executives took a stand and made it clear to the world that Infoseek and GO, owned and operated by Walt Disney, think that fucking babies is inappropriate.
For trial, Naughton's defense team came up with this gem which set legal heads spinning: The chats were all fantasy and that Patrick never intended to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. In fact, it was claimed that he never thought he was chatting with a teenager and instead believed he was chatting with an adult who shared his fantasy.
Despite all of the evidence and the decades of prison time hanging over him, Naughton would eventually walk free. The jury in his trial deadlocked over the more serious charge and to avoid a retrial, he plead out to lesser charges.
Naughton spent his probation working on an unspecified software project for the FBI. Company sources say the project involved programming to IRC networks. When he was finished with probation, he walked away a free man, not even stopping to fix his open bugs.
In the end, Patrick lost everything. The strange case of Patrick Naughton ends with him having spent one (1) weekend in jail, later likened it to a long plane ride.
Following the public-relations disaster personified as Patrick, the company that was the Go Network was put to sleep. After losing quite a bit of Disney dollars with nothing to show for it, except for Patrick's presence, the enterprise quietly went out of business. Offices in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and Seattle were shuttered, employees were sent home with zero-day notice and guards were posted in the lobby, presumably to prevent violence or fax paper theft.
This was probably best for Walt Disney, Michael Eisner and Mickey Mouse. Even if this brain fart of an Internet startup somehow wasn't losing millions and millions of dollars, every single future mention of Go in the press would have had to include an obligatory reference to Patrick Naughton.
"I'm glad I'm at the top of the food chain.”... "I came from a poor immigrant family. My father came from Ireland, and he basically reproduced Ireland in Rochester. We had ten acres of land with cows and ducks and pigs."
-- Patrick Naughton, Forbes article ("Mr. Famous Comes Home"), 1998 "The decisions I make change the world — and I've never made a wrong decision in my life." -- Patrick Naughton boasting at a company meeting
Timeline
8 Mar 1999 First contact: Patrick appears online and describes sex acts to an FBI agent. 16 Sept 1999 Stung: Patrick is arrested in Santa Monica. He is fired from Disney the next day. 22 Dec 1999 a judge rules that Patrick can be released on bail. 18 Mar 2000 Patrick pleads guilty to traveling to Los Angeles with the intent to have sex with a minor. 9 Aug 2000 Sentenced: Nine months house arrest, a $20,000 fine and 5 years probation.

Man Accused Of Groping Woman Playing Minnie Mouse
"If I got the crap beat out of me, I have to go along and say nothing ever happened. That's part of the Disney integrity. We have to." –Brittney McGoldrick
August 10, 2009
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A woman who played Minnie Mouse at Walt Disney World says she was groped by a man while on the job. Eyewitness News learned that the man on trial accused of battering her is a 59-year-old grandfather.
The young woman says she was greeting children in "Toon Town" at the Magic Kingdom when the man groped her.
"Well, he just came at me. He came at me and grabbed my breasts," she stated in court.
Prosecutors say the victim in the case could not call for help because she would have been fired if she spoke while in costume.
Brittney McGoldrick says she'll never forget the sound of a laugh.
"It was a creepy laugh. It was just a real creepy, creepy laugh," McGoldrick said.
McGoldrick says the laughter was from 59-year-old John Moyer.
On June 7, the Pennsylvania grandfather was visiting Walt Disney World with his family. On that day, McGoldrick was on the job as Minnie Mouse. She claims that during a photo session, Moyer grabbed her breasts and rear end. In court, she nearly broke into tears as she described what happened.
"I was doing everything I could to get his hands off my breasts. So, I did everything I could and pushed them down," she described.
Moyer was arrested that day and charged with battery. There are pictures snapped by a Disney photographer that prosecutors say caught the attack on film.
However, the defense insists the snapshots show nothing and McGoldrick was hammered for not calling for help or waving the "Disney distress signal" when a character is in trouble.
But the woman never broke character and claims she would lose her job if she had.
"If I got the crap beat out of me, I have to go along and say nothing ever happened. That's part of the Disney integrity. We have to."
Defense witnesses were taking the stand Monday afternoon. Eyewitness News learned that Moyer will likely testify.

Man accused of molesting girls at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Deputies said a man at Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon molested several girls at the water park.

A New York man faces a molestation charge after investigators accused him of pulling the bikini top off a 15-year-old girl and touching her chest at a Walt Disney World water park.
Robert Chester Double Jr., 51, is being held at the Orange County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Although he faces one count of lewd or lascivious molestation, reports show Double groped more than one young female victim before Orange County sheriff's deputies arrested him Friday.
The incident at Typhoon Lagoon is the fourth sexual-related case at a Central Florida water park -- including the rape of a 14-year-old girl at Wet 'n Wild -- in less than three weeks.
"Our cast members are trained to report any kind of suspicious behavior," Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said. "This type of behavior is absolutely not tolerated on our properties."
Reports show the victim told deputies she was in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon when Double "crashed into her," pulling off her bikini top and bottom.
She swam away from Double and returned moments later to the same spot.
Double also returned. When the wave hit, he pulled off her top and touched her chest again. The victim swam away and told her father.
The father and his daughter alerted security and employees started searching for Double. Sheriff's deputies also were called to the scene.
"It was like looking for a needle in a haystack," said sheriff's spokesman Jeff Williamson.
The incident took place during the Fourth of July holiday, and water parks around Central Florida were packed with tourists and locals enjoying some respite from the heat.
Five employees alerted deputies about someone matching Double's description performing similar incidents on other young girls in the wave pool. An investigating is ongoing and more charges are possible.
After Double was positively identified, lifeguards removed him from the pool. The father and daughter also identified him and he was arrested.

Disney employee arrested on child porn charges
March 17, 2009
CLERMONT -- Lake County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Walt Disney World employee on charges of possessing child pornography after searching his computer Monday afternoon following an online undercover investigation.
Adrijk Jose Duran, 20, of Clermont admitted to downloading files of child pornography and stated he became curious when he began viewing the images last year.
Duran, who was listed as an employee for Crystal Magic at Walt Disney World as a crystal engraver, saved the downloaded images into a file labeled "data" on his laptop, according to authorities.
Sheriff's detectives working as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force obtained a search warrant after interviewing him online. Detectives found numerous images depicting children as young as 3 years engaged in sex acts with other children and adults.
When questioned by detectives, Duran admitted to using search terms such as "lolita" and "child porn."
Duran faces 10 counts of possession of child.
Following his arrest, Duran was transported to the sheriff's substation in the South Lake area and then to the Lake County Jail. At press time, he remains in jail on $100,000 bond.

Disney Security Guard Accused Of Raping His Hair Stylist
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A security guard for Disney is on unpaid leave for allegedly raping his long-time hair stylist. Edward Henry is also a reserve officer with the Oakland Police Department . A Disney spokesperson confirmed to Eyewitness News that Henry worked there as a security guard, but wouldn't give any other details. She said Disney takes the allegations very seriously and he is now on unpaid leave. Oakland reserve officer Edward Henry was arrested by the Orlando Police Department after he was accused of raping his hairdresser. He asked his long-time stylist to come to his house to do his hair. "She indicated her purpose was to color his hair, and to be taken advantage of, I mean, no means no, no matter what," said Sgt. Barbara Jones, Orlando Police Department.
When police confronted Henry, he tried to blame the hair stylist, but then later admitted he raped her.
The Oakland police chief told Eyewitness News, as soon as Henry was arrested he took away his badge, ID and gun. He's suspended from the force until the investigation is complete. The corporal was on Oakland's bike unit. He's been part of the reserve unit for the past three years. Before that, Henry was also an officer with the Maitland and Eatonville police departments.
Aside from being a reserve officer, Henry also works at Disney and Columbia University as a security guard. "Whether you're an officer or a civilian, the crime of rape is very violent and it can't be and will never be tolerated," Sgt. Jones said. Henry's attorney said his client did have an intimate relationship with the woman many, many years ago. However, she said, for the past seven years they have only been friends.

Disney Housekeeper Attacked On The Job
Disney says it believes it must be a language barrier problem and is trying to help the victim get through this
Friday, December 26, 2008
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A housekeeper says she was brutally attacked while she cleaned rooms at a Disney hotel. She also claims the theme park turned its back on her.
Cadilia Juste was badly beaten and just got out of the hospital. Her attacker was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.
Through an interpreter, she said, "He would have killed me and raped me."
Still, Juste says Disney threatened to fire her if she didn’t show up for work.
Juste is still in pain from last week’s attack. She told Channel 9 a fellow employee at Disney’s Pop Century Resort attacked her in one of the rooms she was cleaning. Juste says the suspect, 26-year-old Hasan Tashpulatov, choked her, hit her, and tried to climb on top of her, but she was able to fight him away and fun for help. After three days in the hospital, Juste is back home, but not feeling well enough to work. She says earlier this week, a boss at Disney told her if she didn’t return the next day she would lose her job.
Disney says it believes it must be a language barrier problem and is trying to help the victim get through this.
Tashpulatov has been suspended from the job pending the outcome of his case.

Disney worker with huge child-infant porn library gets 10-years prison sentence
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 6, 2008 (UPI) -- A central Florida man with a massive child-pornography collection that included victims as young as newborns was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.
Tony Guerra, a former food-services worker at what was then called Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studios), pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of receiving and distributing child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Mary Scriven ordered him to serve 130 months in prison. After prison, Guerra will be placed on probation for life.
Investigators said they found more than 5,000 images and videos of child pornography on Guerra's roommate's computer last year, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.
An investigator estimated the oldest child in the images was no more than 6, court documents showed.
FBI Special Agent Nick Savage said during Wednesday's hearing Guerra's child pornography was "the largest collection of infants and babies I've ever seen" and was "extremely shocking."
The FBI began investigating Guerra, who was living in Kissimmee, near the Disney theme park, after receiving a tip from Australian authorities.
During the enquiry, investigators learned that Guerra persuaded a man in Australia to sexually abuse his 6-year old daughter and 6-month old granddaughter, record the abuse and share it with him.
The convicted pedophile revealed he liked to her children scream and recommended other pedophiles go to Disney World to look for girls

Man sentenced to 30 years for molesting girl at hotel on Disney property
September 19, 2008
A 63-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for molesting an 8-year-old girl in 2007 at a hotel on Disney World property.
Orange Circuit Court Judge Thomas A. Mihok ordered William Bishop, who has a history of lewd-behavior arrests that goes back to the 1970s, to prison today.
Earlier this month, an Orange County jury found Bishop guilty of kidnapping, lewd and lascivious molestation, lewd and lascivious conduct, lewd and lascivious exhibition and use of a child in sexual performance.
The incident occurred on April 27, 2007. Lifeguards at the Swan Hotel detained Bishop after an 11-year-old boy told them that he saw the man in a Hawaiian shirt exposing himself and fondling a young girl, records show.
The victim, who lives out of state, was not in court today. Prosecutor Linda Drane-Burdick read a letter from her family.
If Bishop completes his time in prison - he may be in his 90s - he will be required to be on probation the rest of his life.

Sex Offender Arrested At Downtown Disney For Allegedly Touching Girl
August 13, 2008
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man is accused of following an 11-year-old girl at Downtown Disney and then touching her inappropriately. Investigators said the man has committed the same type of crime before and is a convicted sex offender.
The crime happened while the girl was shopping with her mother. He allegedly grabbed the girl's behind. Investigators said the girl's mom did everything right, but the guy just wouldn't leave the child alone.
Jose Pamblanco-Morales, 24, blended in at Downtown Disney. Children and families were unaware of who he is or what kind of criminal past he has.
"These people, they're opportunist. It could be a playground, a mall, an online chat room, it's what they do," said Jim Solomons, Orange County Sheriff's Office.
It's something Pamblanco-Morales went to prison for in 2005, molesting a child. He's a registered sex offender and now accused of finding another victim Wednesday at Disney. He was arrested for molesting the 11-year-old girl.
In his Orlando neighborhood, Pamblanco-Morales is not so anonymous. One woman who was molested as a child fought to get him out of the neighborhood. She, too, has an 11-year-old daughter.
"It scares me very much. I know what she would have to go through. She would have to go through what I went through," concerned parent Iris Otero said.
Iris doesn't let her daughter go outside with a registered sex offender living across the street, but Eyewitness News spotted young girls riding their bikes in the neighborhood, unknowingly, like the 11-year-old at Downtown Disney.
"She was traumatized by this incident," Solomons said.
Disney would not comment, stating it's a police matter and they would leave it up to the sheriff's office. Jose Pamblanco-Morales will remain in jail until at least Thursday, when the prosecution will argue he should not receive a bond because of his criminal past.
As for the neighbors who want him out, there's nothing they can do as long as Pamblanco-Morales is following the sex offender statutes.

Disney Worker Charged With Molesting Girl, 14
July 14, 2008
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who worked as a ride operator at Walt Disney World was arrested for molesting a 14 year old girl. Morency Dorelus, 18, was fired since his arrest Sunday.
The investigation started as a missing person's case. The girl was reported missing in Clermont Saturday, but police traced her phone calls back to Dorelus’ home. The 14-year-old’s phone calls to her mother led police to the Osprey Ridge Apartments in Clermont, where they found the girl and Dorelus.
Officers said the girl told them Dorelus had picked her up from her home the day before and that she had spent the night with him. According to a police report, she later told officers he “had touched her on her clothed breasts and clothed buttocks.” Dorelus reportedly changed his story, at first denying, but then admitting he had picked the girl up. However, he insisted that she spent the night with friends at a hotel near Disney, the Lake Buena Vista Palace.
Neighbors at his apartment complex said they never saw the girl, but knew there was trouble when police cars pulled up. Jeneriah Moton said she never would have expected her next door neighbor to be charged with molesting a young girl. Moton said she has a son of her own, and will not sleep easy, “I’m ready to move,” she said.
Dorelus was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and interfering with child custody.

BREAKING NEWS:
Armed Disney Guest Shoots Himself On Resort Property
July 13, 2008
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- An armed Disney customer shot himself in the leg near the resort's Downtown Disney area Saturday night. The man's son called for help.
Orange County deputies said the man was trying remove his gun and take a bullet from the chamber when it went off and shot him in the leg. The man's identity hasn't been released and the injuries are not life-threatening. Deputies said the man was not planning to take the gun into Downtown Disney.
Disney officials said guests are allowed to have guns in their vehicles on Disney property, but are not allowed to have them in parks. Security officers check bags before customers enter the theme park areas. Disney has been under scrutiny for its gun policies lately. The company claims it is exempt from a new Florida law that allows employees to carry guns to work in their vehicles. Disney says the permit it holds for its massive fireworks shows provides an exemption under the statute.
The company recently fired a worker who carried a gun to a Disney job site. Edwin Sotomayor was fired about a week ago and just filed a petition to get his job back.
The Florida Attorney General's office is also investigating complaints against Disney's gun policy.

Disney guard sues over firing for gun
July 10, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A former Disney World security guard is suing after his firing for challenging the park on a new law allowing gun owners to keep firearms in their cars at work.
Edwin Sotomayor of Kissimmee filed the lawsuit Friday morning in Orlando.
Sotomayor was fired Monday. Disney says he refused to cooperate with investigators who wanted to know if he brought a gun to work with him
The 36-year-old had told local media he planned to challenge Disney's claim of an exemption by having a gun locked in his car when he reported to work at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Disney World believes it is exempt from the law and a spokeswoman says the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy for employees who bring guns onto the property.

Disney Security Guard Fired After Bringing Gun To Workplace
July 7, 2008
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A Disney security guard who challenged the company's anti-gun policy has been fired.
Disney considered itself exempt from the state's new law that lets employees bring their guns to work if they're left locked in the car. But Sotomayer told local news stations that he'd bring his gun anyway.
Monday, the company fired him for violating company policy by not cooperating with its investigation.
Sotomayer has already hired a lawyer.
Disney Employee Suspended After Bringing Gun To Work
July 4, 2008
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A new state law went on the books Tuesday saying people could bring guns to work if they kept them locked in their car. Disney, though, said it was exempt from the new law and its 62,000 employees needed to keep their guns at home.
Friday, a worker who protested the park’s decision told local news stations that he was suspended.
The worker was well aware that he could end up losing his job when he took the gun to work Friday morning, but said that the principle at stake means enough to him that he was willing to take the risk, especially on the day we celebrate the country and our freedoms.
As he pulled into work, Edwin Sotomayor recorded Sheriff’s Deputies and Disney managers waiting for him. After he refused a car search, managers drove Sotomayor to their offices, questioned him further and then sent him to his normal post. Four hours into his shift, Sotomayor says he was suspended.
Disney told employees it is exempt from the new law that allows them to bring a gun to work, because it stores fireworks on site.
Disney told local news stations that he was suspended because he wouldn’t cooperate with their investigation. They also said he could be fired for carrying the gun, which he says is about safety on his ride to work.
Sotomayor says he’s willing to be the test case for the new law, even if it means losing his job and going to work.
Disney is investigating the case internally. While Disney employee files are confidential, sources day Sotomayor has been disciplined by Disney in the past. Sotomayor insists he is testing this law on his own and hasn’t been contacted by groups like the NRA.

Disney Says It's Exempt From New Law Allowing Guns At Work
July 2, 2008
UPDATED: July 3, 2008
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The NRA is taking aim at Disney. A new law just went on the books in Florida that says people are allowed to bring their guns to work, but it's not the case at Central Florida's largest employer.
The controversial new law says people can take their guns to work if they keep them locked away in their cars, but Disney says it's exempt and its 62,000 employees had better keep their guns at home.
Central Florida's largest employer says it's exempt because the park has fireworks on its property. The NRA and Disney have a different take on the exemption in the law and it may end up in court. In the meantime, Disney isn't taking any chances. It sent an email to all of its workers telling them not to bring guns to work.
"It seems too dangerous," Disney guest Jim Loe told Eyewitness News. "You got all these kids here. You don't need people with guns at a kids' theme park."
Most of the Disney guests asked by a local news station said they don't like the idea of employees having guns around kids.
"Sometimes there are employees who are disgruntled and you may never know when they may snap," said Disney guest Alicia Ratliff.

Disney Cast Member Arrested During National Child Pornography Sting
June 17, 2008
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- You've seen the photographers who snap your picture as soon as you walk into a Disney park. Tuesday afternoon a man responsible for dispatching them throughout the park was arrested for child pornography. Channel 9 received a tip about the arrest from Lake County detectives. Charles Hurrey's job dealing with photographers at Disney certainly gave him the tools and the access to children he would have needed to make his own child pornography, but investigators who looked at the videos believe he was downloading someone else's work. Detectives say they discovered three different videos on Hurrey's home computer as a result of a long investigation. Hurrey worked as a photographer at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
It's Hurrey's job to make sure families vacationing at Disney's Hollywood Studios leave with plenty of pictures of their visit, but investigators say the pictures he keeps at home of children are not so innocent.
"They are very hardcore, sex with children or with young children and then the other one or two teenagers," said Det. Chris Loyko of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Loyko said he discovered the three videos on Hurrey's computer depicting children as young as 4-years-old involving graphic sexual acts. Loyko said he stumbled onto Hurrey while participating in an undercover sting called 'Operation Fair Play'. The operation is an ongoing, nationwide effort aimed at tacking child pornography.
Detectives are reluctant to reveal how it works, but in Lake County is the first suspect it has nabbed, but he happens to be one they said they are eager to put away. Hurrey declined a request to interview him. A background check found that he's never been arrested before in Florida. He was being held on $15,000 bond. Disney said he was being suspended from work until the outcome of the investigation.

A server at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel at Walt Disney World arrested on charges of planting pipe bomb on S.R. 417

 |
| Police: More Pipe Bombs May Be Found |
|
|
|
October 25, 2007
A months-long investigation led authorities to a pipe bomb on busy State Road 417 Wednesday afternoon, halting rush-hour traffic for more than an hour, the Orange County Sheriff's Office disclosed late Wednesday.
A 21-year-old St. Cloud man was in custody Wednesday night, charged with manufacturing an explosive device. An arrest report said the man's father and girlfriend led investigators to the homemade device in the westbound lanes of the highway around 4:30 p.m., about one mile west of John Young Parkway. Traffic was shut down while it was removed.
Deputy sheriffs expect to make at least four more arrests in the case, which also involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said Deputy Carlos Padilla, sheriff's spokesman.
"This is not a terrorism plot," Padilla said. "These are local guys who made [the bomb.]"
The sheriff's spokesman did not name the suspect who was in custody. An arrest report at the Orange County Jail identified the man as Brandon Ryan Woll, a server at the Swan and Dolphin Hotel at Walt Disney World. He admitting to placing the bomb, the report said. He was being held on $1,000 bail.
Padilla said the man in custody and others to be arrested would face state and federal charges.
Investigators would not say whether the bomb was live and had to be detonated, but said it was "rendered safe."
The three law enforcement agencies will hold a joint press conference at 2 p.m. today at sheriff's headquarters.
Explosives May Be Planted Somewhere In Central Florida
Sheriff: Devices Powerful Enough To Kill
October 25, 2007
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group believed responsible for making and planting homemade bombs on Disney property and near a busy road may have placed other explosives around Central Florida, according to investigators.
An investigation was launched in July after sheriff's deputies responded to a pipe bomb explosion in a Downtown Disney trash bin.
Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said officers have determined that the device at Disney and another bomb found on the side of the Highway 417 and International Drive Wednesday were planted by the same people. And, there may be more unfound devices in the area
"Further investigation has led us to believe that there were a number of suspects involved," Beary said. "One suspect, after questioning, led us to believe there were other devices made and discarded in Orange County."
Beary said both found explosives were powerful enough to kill someone.
"Every since 9/11 happened there seems to be more and more of this activity out there," Beary said. "There seems to be more and more players who want to get involved and they really don't know what they're messing with. (They're) not only a danger to others, they're a danger to themselves.
Beary said the incidents are not terrorist-related.
Officers said Brandon Ryan Woll, 21, was arrested in connection with Wednesday's discovery but three or four more people will likely be taken into custody this week.
According to an arrest report, Woll told investigators he put the bomb on the road.
There were no injuries in connection with the discovery of the devices.
The FBI and Orange County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery.

Man pleads guilty in child sex case at Disney resorts
October 22, 2007
The case of child pornography being made at two Walt Disney World resorts ended Monday when the accused pleaded guilty on sexual battery charges.
Matthew Mancuso, 49, faces 14 years in prison on two counts of attempted sexual battery on a child under 12. The sentence was part of a plea deal entered at 2 p.m., minutes before the case was to go to trial before Orange County Circuit Court Judge Bob LeBlanc.
The pictures were taken during two visits to Walt Disney World. The first was to the Contemporary Resort in 2000. The second was to the Port Orleans Resort in 2001.
"I would like to make a public apology to everything that's happened up to this point," Mancuso said, nearly breaking into tears.
The girl attended the hearing with relatives and spoke about the impact the attacks had on her life.
"For me it's been really hard because it's just really affected me in a lot of ways," the victim, now 15, said.
Mancuso initially faced eight counts of capital sexual battery and life in prison but pleaded today in exchange for a lighter sentence. He will serve his sentence after completing a 15-and-a-half-year federal sentence plus a 35-year sentence on charges in Pennsylvania. Both cases are related to the photographs.
The Pennsylvania case is currently under appeal.
Assistant State Attorney Linda Drane Burdick said the teen was anxious about testifying. If the case went to trial, she may have had to view the pornographic images.

|
The Victim: Masha's Story
At 13 years old, Masha has already survived the unthinkable. She was born in southern Russia to an alcoholic mother and a father she never knew. Her own mother tried to kill her when she was only 4 years old by stabbing her in the back of the neck with a kitchen knife. Soon after recovering from her traumatic ordeal, Masha was sent to an orphanage where she prayed that a good family would come to rescue her.
Meanwhile, then 41-year-old Matthew Mancuso, a divorced father in Pennsylvania, was looking for a little girl to adopt. He contacted a New Jersey adoption agency requesting information on 5-year-old Caucasian girls, and chose Masha from a videotape. After months of waiting, Mancuso traveled to Russia to meet his new daughter. He visited Masha several times at the orphanage, took her to nice dinners, and bought her candy.
To Masha, Mr. Mancuso seemed like her knight in shining armor. But nothing could have been farther from the truth. What she didn't know was the adoption agency failed to properly check her new father's background. No phone calls were made to his ex-wife or to his biological daughter. Back in the states, Masha expected a nice American home with a bedroom all her own.
In her new home, Masha was surprised to discover that she didn't have a bedroom. Instead, Mancuso made Masha sleep with him. The first night, Masha says, she was unable to sleep as Mancuso tried to fondle her. Within days, Mancuso began molesting Masha every night in bed.
Her new father turned out to be a diabolical child pornographer who forced Masha to live as his sex slave. Mancuso took hundreds of pornographic pictures of Masha, then posted them on the Internet, where he traded them with other pedophiles. He dressed Masha as a young bride and forced her to pretend they were getting married. He chained Masha in his basement. He starved his adopted daughter to keep her young body from maturing. And, he forced Masha to take showers with him every day.

Disney Worker Arrested For Soliciting Underage Sex Online
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- Michael Bott Junior, 27, a Disney employee, was arrested Friday night. Lake County investigators said the father of four tried to arrange to meet someone, who he believed was a 14 year old girl.
Bott is accused of writing this message to the fictitious girl: “What we are about to do is technically rape because of our ages, but age is nothing but a number.”
Bott’s arrest is the second for Lake County’s brand new cyber crimes unit. It started just over a month ago. The new unit is an example of the increasing role local authorities are taking in addressing the concern over online predators.
“It’s sad. We’ve been on 10 or 15 minutes and I’ve got three guys already asking about sex,” said one of the cyber crimes detectives as he chatted online.
The cyber crime unit made its first arrest earlier in the week. They arrested Marcos Torres, 38, on pornography charges. The unit is currently investigating 30 other cases.

Disney Employee Facing 18 Counts Of Possessing Child Porn
Roberts Apparently Left Laptop In Laundry Room
September 21, 2007
A 44-year-old employee at Disney's Animal Kingdom is accused of keeping child porn photos on a notebook computer that was found in an apartment laundry room.
Kissimmee police said a resident of the Caribbean Isle Apartments found a laptop computer in the laundry room and turned it into office staff.
In order to identify the owner of the computer, the staff said they turned on the computer and found a file containing child pornography photos, a Kissimmee police report said.
The staff also identified the owner as resident Darren Lamar Roberts and called police, according to the report.
Kissimmee police found and interviewed Roberts Friday.
During the interview, Roberts identified the computer as his property and he was arrested, the police report said.
Roberts was charged with 18 counts of possession child pornography. The charge is a third-degree felony and carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison on each count if convicted.
Roberts remains in the Osceola County Jail.

Link: Walt Disney World worker Tony Guerra arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography
Police arrested 21 year-old Walt Disney World worker, Tony Guerra, at his job at Disney-MGM Studios, after a detective says Guerra e-mailed her photos of child porn.
Guerra showed no emotion when he was arrested Thursday evening by agents from the FBI'S Innocent Images Task Force.
He was leaving his food service job there when he was handcuffed.
Walt Disney World managers helped the FBI find Guerra. Investigators say they found images of child porn on Guerra's computer in a Kissimmee apartment where he has rented a room for three months.
A federal search warrant says Guerra was participating in an online chat room and told an undercover officer that he loved babies.
The warrant also says he asked the agent, who was posing as a mother, if she had molested her own children.
He then allegedly sent her 63 photos and four videos of child and baby pornography.
Baby-porn suspect to stay in jail
- September 15, 2007
A Disney worker accused of soliciting baby pornography will remain behind bars.
Federal agents arrested Tony Guerra, 21, last month in the parking lot of the Disney-MGM Studios. Guerra is accused of seeking out "hard core videos involving babies" on Internet chat sites.
In court Friday, a federal judge denied his request to move to his father's home in Wisconsin and wear an ankle monitor until his trial. Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Gable said that 90 percent of the pornography found on Guerra's computer depicted babies and that the man's Internet profile picture was that of a little girl's genitalia.
Guerra is a food services worker at the Disney-MGM Studios. He's on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the case.

September 13, 2007
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 27-year-old Disney worker was arrested after he traveled to a parking lot in Orange County believing he was going to have sex with a 14-year-old he met online, according to authorities.
Brian Fries, who told officers he was a tour guide on Disney's Jungle Cruise ride, was taken into custody by Orange County sex crimes unit Thursday night.
Detectives said Fries engaged in online communications with an undercover officer who he believed was a 14-year-old. He thought he was meeting the girl Thursday night for oral sex, police said.
Officers searched Fries' vehicle after his arrest and found some Disney playing cards and a bottle of rum that an undercover detective had asked him to bring to the scheduled encounter.
"I just want to apologize to my parents," Fries said. "I'm sorry mom and dad. You raised me better than this. I'm sorry."
Orange County Sheriff's Detective Jason McMullen said finding men seeking sex with children online is not difficult.
"I can log on any time and find somebody," McMullen said. "They have to be explicit to commit the crime. And they have to talk about specific sexual acts that are going to be committed when they meet."
Detectives said other men were also arrested by the sex crimes unit Thursday.

Also, an 18-year-old man also told police that Johnson molested him when he was 8 years old
August 1, 2007
CLERMONT, FLORIDA - A 54-year-old Disney maintenance man remained at the Lake County Jail without bail Tuesday on charges of sexual battery involving a child, police said.
Christian V. Johnson of Clermont, who was arrested Friday, is accused of molesting a girl on multiple occasions from the time she was 10 to 14 years old, police said. An 18-year-old man also told police that Johnson molested him when he was 8 years old.
Johnson told investigators he did not see anything wrong with the sexual relationship he had with the female victim, according to an arrest report. He denied touching the male victim.
Johnson worked as an electronics maintenance worker at Walt Disney World and has been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the charges, Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said.

Internet Sex Sting Nets 28 including three Walt Disney World Employees
It was the 2nd major sting aimed at child predators by Polk sheriff's detectives.
Police arrested 28 men in Polk County during "Operation Cyber Hawk," an undercover operation aimed at luring predators out of the woodwork.
Cops pretended to be 13- and 14-year-old girls and boys in online chatrooms as they worked from their headquarters, a wired house called "Four Corners." For four days, 24 hours a day, more than 50 police officers were in contact with more than 250 men from all over Florida — and even some from other countries.
“They want to prey on 13- and 14-year-old girls and that is what we found this weekend,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told FOXNews in an interview. “The vast majority of them did confess and some of them had lame excuses.”
When the predators wanted to speak to the little girls with whom they thought they were chatting, female officers spoke on the phone, using a younger sounding voice. The predators set up meetings with the youngsters and, when they arrived at the house for the meeting, police nabbed them.
“Once the door's open, there you see undercover agents,” Judd said. “It’s not only deputies, it's agents from state and federal government that worked with us as well as law enforcement agencies in North Carolina.”
“We arrested people in BMWs, in Mercedes, in rental cars, Disney employees, Boys and Girls Club employees, vice presidents of a big corporation,” Judd continued. “Every walk of life, we put them in jail.”
Three of the arrested men told authorities they were employees of Walt Disney Co., which operates theme parks in the area, according to the sheriff's report. Some were unemployed or worked as laborers; others were in food service, sales or finance. One man said he was an IBM consultant; another a vice president for a South Florida real estate company. They ranged in age from college students to men in their 40s and 50s.
The Disney employees and their charges are:
Julio Segundo, 22 4580 Thoreau Park Drive, Apt. 308, Orlando, Hispanic Male, DOB 07/06/1985 Charges: Soliciting a Minor Via Internet/Attempted Lewd Battery. Occupation, Intern for Research and Development, Employer, Disney
Richard Gaugh, 55 525 Crowne Loop Apt. 317, Ormond Beach, White Male, DOB 11/03/1951 Charges: Soliciting a Minor Via Internet/Attempted Lewd Battery. Occupation: Part-Time Disney Instructor, Regional Coordinator, Employer, Disney Animal Kingdom/Cool Kids Inc. (Possess a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education)
Thierry Ferron, 44 1433 Tulamore Loop, Winter Garden, Florida, White Male, DOB 03/14/1963 Charges: Solicit Minor Via Internet/Attempted Lewd Battery/Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor/Receiving Computer Statements for Purpose of Sexual Conduct
"We take allegations of this nature seriously," Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said in an e-mail. "When we receive confirmation of these allegations, we will take appropriate action."
Disney would not comment further on what the employees did or whether they had routine contact with children. The company said all cast members must pass background checks when they're hired.
Segundo and Gaugh remained in jail awaiting bail on Monday. Ferry posted bond and was released Sunday. It was not immediately known if the men had attorneys.
Judd said that these predators are on the hunt for children, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“What we don’t know is were they going to talk those children into going with them?" he asked. "Were they going to abduct them? Were they going to become scared after engaging in sex intercourse and say ‘we need to just kill them?’”

Child Porn Sting Nabs Former Disney Employee, Hangs Himself
March 9, 2007
Investigators involved in a child porn sting called Operation Sentinel has netted almost a dozen suspects in Polk County, Florida. Among the arrests was Stanley Schneider, 41, from Orlando and Edward Dameron, 45.
Some of the most abhorrent material encountered in years was confiscated by investigators, some involving rape with a 1-year-old. A representative for Polk County had to leave the room, saying it was too disturbing to watch.
Schneider, an employee for the Lake Buena Vista Palace Hotel (located on Disney's property), is charged with 51 counts of child pornography. Dameron, a former audio-visual employee for Disney, hanged himself and died a week after authorities searched his home.
10 Arrested in Child Porn Sting
Friday March 9, 2007
By Dana Willhoit The Ledger
Bartow - When the Polk County sheriff's officials called a press conference Thursday morning to announce they had arrested men who had downloaded child pornography, they presented a list of eleven names.
Next to the name of Edward Dameron was the word "Deceased."
Sheriff's officials said Dameron, a Disney employee who lived in the Davenport area, committed suicide after sheriff's investigators seized his computer on Jan. 23.
On Feb. 5, Dameron hanged himself near his home.
Left behind was an anguished note that told of Dameron's despair at his pending arrest and contained a plea that his pets be cared for after his death.
In a note addressed to his parents, he claimed that he had unintentionally downloaded some "bad" files and couldn't figure out how to delete them.
"If I am convicted, I'll lose my job, house, be a felon, and labeled a 'sex' offender," it said.
Dameron's home was searched and a computer was seized Jan. 23, as part of a sheriff's investigation dubbed "Operation Sentinel."
Dameron's neighbor called sheriff's deputies Feb. 5 and told them he had gone outside to get his garbage cans and had noticed a suitcase sitting next to his garage door.
On top of the suitcase were two notes. One asked the neighbor to call Dameron's parents. The other asked that he call police and contained a hand-drawn map to where Dameron could be found nearby.
In the suitcase was a high school yearbook with a handwritten note addressed to Dameron's parents, along with financial paperwork.
"On Jan. 24/25th the Polk County Sheriffs raided my house. Apparently I had downloaded some 'illegal content,'" the note said. "I was not seeking it out but I knew it was on my computer. I tried to delete the files, but could not. In order to forget/hide from my problems, I turned to downloading video files … I was downloading so many files and did take measures to avoid anything illegal. From time to time I would find a "bad" file but could delete it. This time I could not figure out how. The sheriffs arrived before I could figure it out. Apparently there were more than a few files."
Dameron talked about how he was having problems concentrating and sleeping. "After going to bed - I could not sleep. No matter what I did - no sleep."
He ended by apologizing for the "many ways" he had hurt his parents, and said "Well now you don't have to worry about me any more. And as for me, I will get what I always wanted - to go to sleep and never wake up." And he begged his parents to care for his cats.
He said "finding someone to take care of them will take a long time. Angel requires bottled water and hyperallergen (sic) cat food - the others can have the regular stuff."
Polk County sheriff's detectives served search warrants and seized computers from 11 men in January, after an investigation led them to think that the men had downloaded child pornography.
The men were not part of a ring and were not connected to one another, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. He declined to say how sheriff's detectives came to suspect the men.
The men were charged with possession of child pornography, ranging in amounts between one image and 59.
According to Assistant State Attorney Brad Copley, people who download child pornography are becoming more savvy and afraid of arrest, and erase the pornography quickly once they have looked at it. However, detectives can often recover it, he said.
Each count of possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in state prison.
At a press conference Thursday morning, detectives played the audio portion of a child pornography clip taken from one of the men's computers. In it a man could be heard saying "Good baby" and a baby could be heard crying as it was sexually assaulted.
"It takes your breath away and it breaks your heart that these children have been victimized like that, and that these so-called human beings find energy and entertainment in that," Judd said.
The images on the computers were so vile, "No normal human being can imagine it," Copley said.
None of the men who have been arrested are accused of molesting children nor of making the child pornography that was on their computers, Judd said.
However, by seeking out and frequently buying child pornography, these men help create a market for it, and encourage the manufacture of new child pornography, Judd said.
"These people enjoy it, relish it, and go out and look for it," he said.
As reporters looked on, nine men who had been arrested Thursday morning were led from the criminal investigation division to patrol cars to be transported to the Central County Jail. A tenth man was picked up Thursday afternoon by sheriff's deputies.
Most of the men refused to speak to reporters and tried to hide their faces, but Theodore Weir, 45, of Manseau Drive in Winter Haven, insisted there was no child pornography on his computer.
"They didn't find it," he said. "If they did find it, they put it there. I had no child pornography on my computer."
When asked whether he thought detectives planted it, he said "They had to have, because how else does it get there? This is a persecution, definitely."
Weir has been charged with 59 counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Disney character cast member accused of child porn possession
Matthew Wendland Released Hours After Arrest
February 9, 2007
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Disney World worker accused of having child porn walked out of jail Friday afternoon, just hours after his arrest. Matthew Wendland dressed as The Beast and Goofy characters at the parks. He lives in the Camden World Gateway Apartments off South Apopka Vineland Road. Wendland is charged with 51 counts of child pornography.
It was Wendland's roommates who saw the pornographic images of young children in the apartment they share with him. They contacted the sheriff's office.
Wendland didn't say a word when Eyewitness News cameras were rolling outside sheriff's headquarters Friday morning. The 20-year-old plays the role of The Beast from Beauty and the Beast, and sometimes Goofy, at Walt Disney World. He's now under arrest for child pornography.
"Boys, girls, men, women, he has it all," said Sgt. Rich Mankewich, Orange County Sheriff's Office.
After getting a tip from his roommates, sheriff's investigators confronted Wendland at Walt Disney World, where they said he admitted having the illegal pictures. Then investigators went back to his apartment, where Wendland allegedly showed them dozens of disturbing pornographic images.
A search turned up a half-dozen printed computer pictures of children under 18 performing sex acts or in sexual poses and at least another 45 images on a CD, the arrest report stated. Wendland told authorities he downloaded the images from the Internet.
"They range from three years old on up till adult age. The ones we're charging him with are clearly under 12 years old," Mankewich said.
Sheriff's investigators applauded the roommates for coming forward. They weren't home when Eyewitness News stopped for comment, but his neighbors said they don't like it a bit.
"I wouldn't feel safe anymore with my kids around a Disney character, for sure," said neighbor Kyle Denison.
"Parents probably pretty upset. I don't have a kid, but if I did, I wouldn't want them with that guy as Goofy," said neighbor Tom Coppersmith.
Investigators believe all the porn was downloaded on his computer at home and they have no evidence to suggest he ever touched kids in a bad way. Still, they're glad someone with his job and his alleged tendencies was caught before anyone got hurt.
"Hopefully we prevented anyone from being touched inappropriately," Mankewich said.
Wendland has no prior criminal history in Florida and passed a Disney background check. He had worked for Disney since July. No complaints have been filed against him at the park, Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said. He has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the charges, she said.
Currently, Wendland faces 51 counts for possessing child porn. He could face even more if a doctor determines more of the people in the pictures are children.
Wendland was released on $8,500 bond Friday. It was not known if he had a lawyer.

Father says ‘Tigger’ hit his son at Disney park Employee temporarily suspended while authorities investigate incident
January 8, 2007
ORLANDO, Fla. - A Walt Disney World employee dressed as the character “Tigger” was accused of hitting a child while posing for a photo, a spokeswoman for the theme park said Saturday.
Park officials temporarily suspended Michael J. Fedelem while they investigate the accusations, Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said.
“Naturally, physical altercations between cast members and guests are not tolerated,” Suarez said.
Jerry Monaco of New Hampshire videotaped his son, Jerry Jr., posing with the costumed character at Disney-MGM Studios on Friday and recorded the confrontation, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The father said Fedelem intentionally hit his son “on or about the head,” said sheriff’s spokesman Carlos M. Padilla. “The tape only shows a fraction of what happened. Now it’s up to us to find out what led up to that.”
A message left by The Associated Press for Monaco was not immediately returned. A telephone listing for Fedelem could not be located.
In 2004 a Walt Disney World employee dressed as Tigger was accused of touching the breast of a 13-year-old girl while she posed with him for a photo. A jury found the man not guilty.
No Charges will be filed against Tigger
February 15, 2007
Tigger, the Walt Disney World character, is no longer in the cross-hairs of the State Attorney's Office.
No charges will be filed against 31-year-old Michael J. Fedelem, the employee playing Winnie the Pooh's bouncy friend, the State Attorney's Office announced today.
Prosecutors reviewed the complaint that Tigger punched a 14-year-old during a home-video session at Disney-MGM Studios last month

Disney Employee Charged With Sexual Battery On Child
November 9, 2006
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News found out a Disney employee was arrested on 20 counts of sexual battery on a child. Investigators were working with Disney officials to see if any other complaints have been filed against David Hobbs.
Detectives said Hobbs had a three-year relationship with a teenage girl who had nothing to do with Disney. But his job at Disney gave him close access to children and that has detectives wondering if there are more victims.
"Obviously, it's a concern for us, being the large number of children that come to the park everyday," said Sgt. Rich Mankewich, Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives said Hobbs, a Tomorrowland employee, wasn't thinking about tomorrow when he started a three-year relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Now he's in jail, charged with 20 counts of sexual battery on a child.
Detectives said Hobbs confessed after the girl turned him in. But that was just the beginning of the investigation. He worked as a merchandise coordinator in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland, popular with teenaged children.
"They tend to gravitate toward jobs that involve children. Every chance they get to be around it, they'll take it," Mankewich said.
Disney placed Hobbs on unpaid leave during the investigation and was working with law enforcement to see whether any park guests have ever complained about him. In a setting like Disney, it's impossible to trace who he had contact with.
"It obviously makes it difficult. You have millions of people down there every year. Hopefully this is an isolated case and he hasn't done anything to anyone else," Mankewich said.
The teenage girl was taken into Department of Children and Families custody.
Hobbs was being held at the Orange County jail on $40,000 bond.

Murder Plot Tied To WDW Security Guard
January 6, 2005
A federal investigation of illegal gun sales led to the arrest Wednesday of a Walt Disney World security guard in a murder-for-hire plot. The plot involved a $2,000 down payment made more than a week ago to an ex-convict described by law-enforcement agents as an underworld gun dealer with a history of violence.
"They were going to do it. They were definitely going to do it," said Special Agent Supervisor Wayne Ivey of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Parl Dicks, the Disney employee, admitted late Wednesday that he sought to have his wife's ex-husband killed for $4,000 to settle a child-custody dispute, Ivey said.
The arrest was made at Disney's Fort Wilderness campground by members of FDLE; the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of Disney security.
Days earlier, Gerson "Olaf" Yellen had been picked up at his home in Osceola County, where the burly ex-convict is accused of making submachine guns and selling them to drug dealers, according to federal court records in Orlando.
"That's fine; I can make a ton of these," Yellen, 36, said of selling an automatic AK-47, according to a conversation recorded secretly by ATF.
An AK-47 and a 9 mm Sten submachine gun were seized in the investigation, records show.
"God only knows how many of these firearms he has put out on the streets," said Agent Carlos Baixauli, an ATF spokesman. "That's why we jumped on this as fast as we could. . . With one trigger pull, you can throw out a magazine that's full of 32 rounds in seconds."
The weapons investigation began shortly before Christmas when an informant told ATF that Yellen gave him a Sten gun and $750 to kill someone, court records show.
The target of the murder plot was not named Wednesday by authorities, but court records indicate the plot had been researched to the point that the killing was planned so a nearby neighbor, an Orange County deputy, would be at work.
The informant admitted to ATF he once helped Yellen pistol-whip and shoot a victim in the head, records show.
Arrest reports in Palm Beach County and state prison records show Yellen was arrested repeatedly in the late 1980s and early 1990s on burglary, gun and assault charges.
His convictions included serving time in state prison for stealing guns from a home in Boynton Beach, according to court records and an interview with Boynton Beach police.
Dicks, a marksman in Olympic-style shooting events, told agents that he met Yellen through their mutual interest in firearms.
In March, Yellen, his wife and their two children under age 3 rented a house on Boxwood Court in Buenaventura Lakes, an Osceola County subdivision with 22,000 residents, records show.
Within weeks, neighbors on the crowded street of 25 one-fifth-acre lots began hearing banging from Yellen's garage.
"We thought it was fireworks," one homeowner said. "I know my husband and I discussed it: 'Doesn't that sound like gunshots?' But it couldn't be, we said."
She and three other homeowners did not want to be identified, saying they feared their tattooed and pierced 250-pound neighbor, whom they described as rude and surly in the best of moods.
Several months ago, one them questioned Yellen about the noise coming from his garage almost every afternoon.
"It was always the same," the man said, making rapid tat-tat-tat sounds with the tip of his tongue. "He got this close to me -- right in my face -- and said, 'Mind your own business.' "
During the investigation, Yellen took an undercover ATF agent into the garage and said that was where he test-fired the submachine guns he made by converting semiautomatic assault weapons with mail-order parts, according to the agent's affidavit.
"This is my shooting gallery," the agent said Yellen told him.
The agent said he paid Yellen $1,200 for an AK-47 that was offered with a loaded 40-round magazine and six loaded 30-round magazines. Yellen offered the agent two more submachine guns to do the killing, according to the affidavit.
Dicks, who lives in Osceola County, was charged with solicitation to commit murder. As of late Wednesday, he had not been booked at the Osceola County Jail, where he was to be held without bail.
A Disney employee since 1996, Dicks has been placed on administrative leave, Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said.
Yellen remains held without bail in the Orange County Jail on federal firearms charges.
State and federal laws prohibit felons from possessing firearms. If convicted of possession of a firearm, Yellen faces a minimum sentence with added penalties for possession of an unlicensed automatic weapon.

'Tigger' arrested on molestation charges
A Walt Disney World employee dressed as the character Tigger at the Orlando, Florida, theme park was arrested Friday on charges of molesting a minor and committing battery against her mother while the three posed for a photo, according to a police affidavit.
April 3, 2004
Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested a Walt Disney World employee who worked as the character "Tigger" and charged him with molesting a 13-year-old girl and her mother while posing with them for pictures in February.
Michael Chartrand, 36, was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 15 years old and one count of simple battery.
He was booked into the Orange County Jail today on a $2,500 bond.
A Disney spokeswoman said Chartrand has been suspended without pay.
The sheriff's office received a complaint that a costumed character at Disney World had touched a girl and her mother inappropriately while their pictures were being taken with the character Feb. 21. According to an incident report, Chartrand fondled the breasts of the girl and the mother while posing for pictures at the Magic Kingdom's Toon Town.
"As the photo was being taken, [the victim] claims that Tigger moved his right hand up to her right breast and started massaging it several times," the incident report states. [The victim] became very embarrassed and ashamed of the incident and claims that she did not say anything to her mother until they left the park."
Later, the girl learned that the costumed character had done the same thing to her mother with his left hand, the report says.
In a charging affadavit filed in court, police wrote that Chartrand told them he had trouble remembering things, but was "very sorry for everything that had occurred," and hoped the victim would forgive him for what he had done.
The girl and her father reported the incident on Feb. 29.
Tigger rejects plea
August 3, 2004
A man accused of touching a 13-year-old girl's breast while performing in his Tigger costume at Walt Disney World rejected a plea agreement Monday that would have spared him prison time.
Michael Chartrand, 36, rejected an offer of one year of probation and 50 hours of community service if he pleaded to misdemeanor battery. He would also have been banned from theme parks.
Chartrand now faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of lewd and lascivious molestation and first-degree misdemeanor battery. His lawyer, Jeffrey Kaufman, did not comment after the decision.
Chartrand, who has been suspended without pay, was accused of touching the girl while he posed for a picture with her and her mother last February. After his arrest in April, other women filed similar complaints.
A Disney lawyer has suggested that the orange Tigger costume be dyed and its ears removed if it is introduced as evidence so that Disney can preserve the character's innocent image. Also Monday, the judge agreed to allow 20 pictures of Chartrand, supposedly in costume, posing with Disney World visitors. The prosecutor, William Jay, said the images would help refute likely defense arguments that the touching was accidental.
Teen testifies she was fondled by Disney worker dressed as Tigger
August 3, 2004
ORLANDO, Fla. - A 13-year-old girl testified Monday that a Walt Disney World character worker dressed as Tigger fondled her breast while she posed for a photo with him and her mother at the Magic Kingdom.
"I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say," the girl said during the first day of the Disney worker's three-day trial on battery and lewd and lascivious molestation charges.
Earlier Monday, the worker, Michael Chartrand, 36, rejected a plea deal that would have spared him prison time if convicted.
Prosecutor William Jay offered Chartrand one year of probation and 50 hours of community service if he accepted the plea agreement for misdemeanor battery. Under the terms, Chartrand also would have been banned from theme parks and required to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
"The fact is this by accepting it, my client says he did it. He didn't do it," said Jeffrey Kaufman, Chartrand's attorney. "We're going to fight it."
Chartrand now could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
Chartrand, suspended without pay, was accused of touching the girl's breast while he posed for a picture with her and her mother last February at Mickey's Toon Town in the Magic Kingdom. After his arrest in April, other women filed complaints alleging similar conduct.
During opening statements, Jay described Chartrand as "as 36-year-old man who abused his Walt Disney World job to steal the innocence of a child." The prosecutor also disputed claims that Chartrand didn't know where he was placing his hands because of the bulkiness of the costume's paws.
"This defendant knew where his paws were," Jay said.
The Tigger costume will be shown to jurors on Tuesday, and they will be allowed to try it on in the jury room during deliberations.
Kaufman tried to raise doubts about the girl's credibility during opening statements and while questioning her on the witness stand. He told jurors that the girl switched stories about the number of times she was groped and the order in which photos were taken of her with Tigger.
The defense attorney also suggested that the girl and her mother were pursuing the criminal case to help in any civil case they filed against Disney.
Kaufman, who also works part-time as a costumed character at Disney, said he expected jurors to handle the Tigger costume so they can see how difficult it would be to grope somebody inside the bulky outfit.
Before the trial started, a Disney lawyer had suggested that the orange Tigger costume be dyed black or white and its ears removed if it is introduced as evidence at the trial. But prosecutor said Monday that the jury would see the Tigger costume Tuesday as it's seen at the park.
Circuit Judge Bob Wattles agreed to let the jury see 20 pictures that Chartrand turned over to detectives of himself, dressed as Tigger, posing with Disney World visitors. Kaufman objected to the use of the images, saying "a lot of those pictures aren't of my client."
But Jay said the images were important to deny likely defense arguments that the touching was accidental.
"We're supposed to believe he doesn't know where his hands are and has no body control," Jay said before a jury was selected.

Tigger man faces new allegation
September 16, 2004
BBC News
A Walt Disney World worker in the United States who was cleared of molesting a teenage girl while dressed up as Tigger has been suspended again.
Michael Chartrand, 36, is accused of shoving two people employed as photographers at the Florida park's Animal Kingdom while dressed as Goofy.
The two say he came up and shoved them each in the chest, police said.
But a lawyer for Mr Chartrand, who is English by birth, said he had just been "goofing around because he was Goofy."
Mr Chartrand could face misdemeanour charges for the alleged shoving.
'Walking bull's-eye'
Earlier this year, Disney suspended Mr Chartrand after a 13-year-old accused him of fondling her.
A jury acquitted him and Disney let him return to work in August.
